Templeton Academy, a first-of-its kind experiential micro school model, launching in partnership with RoughRiders Sports Club® in Boulder in the fall of 2020.

We are excited to announce we will be launching our next location in Boulder, CO in the fall of 2020 under the leadership of Head of School, Michael Hardiman.

With an average class size of just ten students, and block scheduling — which allows for longer class periods and deeper learning — Templeton Academy provides a highly personalized, experiential-based learning environment with academically rigorous teaching and learning driven by student interest and agency.

“We only take on additional promises to students and their families once it is clear that we’ve found the right leader in the right place at the right time,” said Temp Keller, Templeton Academy Co-Founder and President. “I know in my heart that the combination of Michael and the RoughRiders next fall is precisely that right combination.”

Hardiman, a former English, IB Language and Literature teacher, relocated to Denver after getting his MA and MBA through Columbia University’s Klingenstein Center and taking a leadership role with STRIVE Prep as both an Assistant Principal of Instruction and Operations. He also holds a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.

“While academic success and student growth are our top priorities, we believe that students should drive their learning and growth through their interests and what brings them joy,” explains Hardiman. “Students are given the opportunity to participate in sport-specific programming through our partnership with RoughRiders Sports Club®, service learning, and opportunities for independent research and activities that allow students to follow their interests.”

Tony Sdao, the RoughRiders Co-Founder, couldn’t be more optimistic. “For years, we’ve been searching for the right educational partner to offer best of class academics and athletics under one roof. That search is over and we couldn’t be more excited about the road ahead.”

Luke Taylor, the President of the RoughRiders added, “We looked long and hard for an educational partner that shares the same core values as we live by every day as part of the RoughRider family, and I believe that Templeton Academy is the perfect fit.  On a personal level, I have a son who is going into high school next year and I believe Templeton Academy will also be the perfect fit for our family and will provide our son with the tools to allow him to succeed in life on whatever path he chooses.”
