Templeton Academy, a rigorous, college preparatory micro school located in the heart of Capitol Hill, announced that Dr. Laura DeLima has been appointed Head of School. With an average class size of just ten students, and block scheduling – which allows for longer class periods and deeper learning – Templeton Academy provides a highly personalized learning environment that encourages hands-on experiences drawn from Washington’s rich cultural and educational resources.

DeLima, who previously opened and led the Washington, DC campus of Fusion Academy, has a career that spans more than fifteen years of leadership at the intersection of educational research, practice and innovation. She holds a B.A. from Vassar College, a Masters in Education Policy from the University of Wisconsin, and earned her Doctorate in Education from The George Washington University.

Founded in 2015, Templeton Academy graduates are accepted, each year, at many of the nation’s top colleges and universities, including Bard College, University of Wisconsin Madison College of Engineering, Temple University Honors Program, and Savannah College of Art and Design. The school is accredited by the Middle States Association (MSA). Last month, Templeton launched its second campus in Nashville, TN, which now serves more than 80 students in grades 5 through 12.
Templeton Academy D.C. is reimagining high school by creating experiential, personalized experiences for students in grades 9-12. With an average class size of just 10 students, we offer an academically rigorous college preparatory curriculum designed to foster intellectual curiosity through active learning and community exploration.
